What is Late Registration?
Question:

What is Late Registration?
Answer:

  • This is when students attempt to add, drop, and change course sections. Courses may not be full and instructors may be able to accept more students.
  • Late Registration takes place during the first 2 weeks of each semester.
  • Late registration must be done via the WEB in week 1 and then in person (Course Adds) and via the WEB (Course Drops) in week 2.
  • To ADD a course:
  • If you have never applied or attended the College then students must first submit to the Registrar's Office a completed "Application for Admission" or "Re-Admission" as well as proof of General College entrance requirements, along with an official highschool transcript or equivalent to show they possess English 12 with a minimum grade of "C".
  • Once admittance to Douglas College has been granted:
  • WEEK 1:  All course adds are done via the WEB registration system.
  • WEEK 2: students must have a "Change of Course" form (available outside of the Registrar's Office during this period) completed, with the instructor's signature, to show they have been added into their course(s).
  • Once students have been signed into their course(s) by the Instructor(s), the signed "Change of Course" form is taken to the Registrar's Office for processing.
  • Fees must be paid immediately or you will be deregistered from the course.
  • Fees must only be paid at Douglas College or via the Douglas College Website during this two week period.
  • All DROP's are done via the WEB registration system during the Late Registration period.  Please note the refund policy during this time in the following area of the Registration guide.
  • To CHANGE sections of a course:
  • You must drop the section which you are wanting out of via the WEB regsitration systems
  • The instructor's signature is required on the "Change of Course" form (available outside of the Registrar's Office during this period).
  • Once the instructor has signed the "Change of Course" form, students must take the form to the Registrar's Office for processing in order for the changes to be official.
  • All course adds, drops or changes must be completed by the end of the second week of the semester or earlier if the course is less than 15 weeks in length.

Some suggestions for late registration:

  • If the course is full and there is room on the waitlist the put yourself on the waitlist and attend the class as the instructor may add you to the class.
  • For courses that begin in mid-semester, students can register on-line once the registration system reopens after the two week Late Registration period. Any additional tuition fees that may apply must be paid by 4pm the next business day, or you will be deregistered from the course.
