What happens when my account is overdrawn?

You will be automatically charged a $5 overdraft administration fee when your account is overdrawn.

If you write a cheque or we receive a pre-authorized debit when your account is overdrawn, you will be charged a non-sufficient funds fee of $25.

Vancity cannot prevent your cheques or pre-authorized debits from being returned when your account is overdrawn. As the financial institution responsible for your account, we must by law return funds on an overdrawn account.

If you have overdraft protection or a line of credit, you can prevent this situation from arising. You can easily apply online for loans, mortgages, and lines of credit. A Vancity lending specialist will contact you to complete the application. You can also contact the Member Service Centre at 604-877-7000 or toll-free within North America at 1-888-vancity (826-2489) to speak with a lending specialist or make an appointment at your branch.
